TRS Battery acquires Casa Grande lithium-ion recycling operations
CASA GRANDE, Ariz., September 3, 2026 — TRS Battery today announced it has acquired the lithium-ion battery recycling operations and assets in Casa Grande, Arizona, previously owned by Ecobat. The acquisition establishes TRS Battery as an Arizona-based battery materials recovery company focused on returning critical minerals to the supply chain.
The Casa Grande facility processes end-of-life batteries and battery manufacturing scrap into black mass and recovered metal streams, including copper, aluminum and steel. TRS Battery will restart operations in the coming weeks, serving battery manufacturers, automotive OEMs, fleet and energy storage operators, and scrap and e-waste partners across the American West.
“This facility and the people who run it have spent years learning how to recover lithium-ion batteries safely and efficiently,” said Justin Sewell, Director of Operations at TRS Battery. “TRS gives that experience a focused home, built around one purpose: recovering the critical materials inside every battery and returning them to work.”
“We're restarting with the same team that knows this plant inside and out, and with a clear commitment to our customers,” Sewell added. “Safe handling, documented recycling and consistent specifications aren't extras for us.”
